🎃 Halloween: A Creative’s Favorite Playground

Some people wait all year for pumpkin spice lattes, others for cozy sweaters. Me? I wait for Halloween. There’s just something about this season that flips the creative switch in my brain to full-on sparkle mode. From whimsical costumes to spooky-but-cute home décor, Halloween has always been the holiday that gives me permission to go a little over the top—and honestly, I love every second of it.

Last year a did an entire 31 Days of Halloween lives and it totally burned me out! It was fun, creative, inspiring and exhausting, but I loved every minute of it.

Halloween isn’t just about candy corn and haunted houses—it’s about imagination. It’s about transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. A cardboard box becomes a castle, a thrifted dress becomes a witch’s gown, and a plain old living room turns into a magical party space with the right touches.

Why Halloween Sparks Creativity

Halloween is basically a blank canvas begging to be painted with bold ideas. It’s playful, it’s whimsical, and it encourages us to step outside of the ordinary routine.

For me, Halloween has always been when I feel the freest to create. My mom was a very talented seamstress and although I cannot sew, I can sew costumes. (EASY-they dont have to fit exaclty right) I can play with colors I don’t normally reach for—like neon greens, deep purples, and wicked blacks. I get to mix “creepy” with “cute” and let my imagination run wild without worrying if it’s “too much.” (Spoiler: it’s never too much.)
