Winter Blues, Burnout & 15 Minutes That Actually Help

Winter Blues, Burnout & 15 Minutes That Actually Help

If winter had a personality, it would be gray, loud, exhausting, and wildly disrespectful of our nervous systems.

And this winter?
She doubled down.

Between record-breaking cold temperatures here in New York, days that feel endlessly dark, and starting 2026 by catching the flu (rude), I’ll be honest — this has not been the gentle fresh start I imagined.

I don’t do cold well.
I don’t do forced optimism well.
And I definitely don’t do “just push through it” energy anymore.

So if you’re feeling off, flat, unmotivated, overwhelmed, or like self-care sounds great in theory but exhausting in reality… you’re not broken.

You’re human.
And you’re in the right place.

Feeling Stressed, Overwhelmed, or Too Exhausted for Self-Care?

You’re in the right place.

This space — my blog, my channel, my creative corner of the internet — is for women who are burnt out but still want to feel like themselves again.

Not a new version of themselves.
Not a better, glow-up, productivity-optimized version.

Just themselves.

Without adding another thing to their to-do list.

Because when you’re already running on empty, being told to:

  • wake up earlier

  • meditate longer

  • journal deeper

  • exercise harder

…isn’t helpful. It’s just loud.

Winter Blues Are Real (And You’re Not Weak for Feeling Them)

Seasonal affective disorder, winter blues, whatever name you give it — it’s real.

Less sunlight.
More isolation.
More layers.
Less movement.
Less energy.
More mental fog.

And when your body is already tired or recovering from being sick? Forget it.

This season messes with:

  • your mood

  • your motivation

  • your sleep

  • your nervous system

So if January and early February feel heavier than usual, it’s not a personal failure. It’s biology + environment + life happening all at once.

What I’m Doing Instead of “Pushing Through”

I talk a lot about 15 minutes of creativity a day — and this winter, I’ve been practicing what I preach.

Not perfectly.
Not consistently.
Not with some magical Pinterest-worthy outcome.

But gently.

Some days that 15 minutes looks like:

  • cutting paper without a plan

  • gluing something just because it feels nice

  • painting slow, simple strokes

  • flipping through old supplies and choosing colors that feel calm

No pressure to finish.
No pressure to share.
No pressure to “make it good.”

And here’s the thing — it helps.

Not in a dramatic, life-changing way.
But in a quiet nervous-system-exhale kind of way.

These 15-Minute Creative Resets Are Designed to Help You:

This is what I focus on here — not productivity, not perfection.

Just relief.

✨ Calm your nervous system
✨ Release mental clutter
✨ Feel small moments of joy and presence
✨ Reconnect with yourself through simple creativity

These aren’t big projects.
They’re not overwhelming.
They don’t require motivation to magically show up first.

They meet you where you are — especially on your hardest days.

I have just released February Journaling Bundle! Simple Journal Prompts to help you get motivated.

Let Me Say This Clearly (Because It Matters)

✨ No special talent
✨ No motivation required
✨ Minimal supplies only

If you can sit down.
If you can pick up scissors, a pen, or a paintbrush.
If you can give yourself 15 imperfect minutes

That’s enough.

You don’t need to feel inspired first.
You don’t need to feel better first.
You don’t need to “deserve” rest.

You just need a small, doable moment that brings your body and mind back into the same room.

If Winter Feels Heavy, You’re Not Alone Here

This hasn’t been the easiest start to 2026 for me — and if you’re feeling the same, I want you to know this space exists because of seasons like this.

We don’t create to escape life.
We create to survive it more gently.

So if today all you can manage is 15 minutes — or even thinking about 15 minutes — that counts.

And if today is a “read the blog, drink the coffee, and do nothing else” kind of day?

That counts too.

I’m really glad you’re here.
And we’ll take this winter one small, creative breath at a time. 💛
