A Creative Nudge: You Don’t Have to Have It All Figured Out to Begin

Hello my creative friend 💛

Let’s be real for a second. Have you ever stared at your blank art project and thought “Where the heck do I even start?”

Yeah, me too. And guess what? You’re in very good company.

During a recent Junk Journal Retreat (which by the way, was overflowing with creativity and community magic ✨), I kept hearing the same quiet whisper from so many:

👉 “I just don’t know how to begin.”

It made me realize this isn’t just a one-time block. This is a universal moment we all hit, whether you’ve been creating for years or you’re brand-new with your first glue stick and some scrapbook paper or acrylic paints.

So this week, I want to give you what I’m calling A Creative Nudge. Just a gentle invitation to return to your craft.

No pressure, no complicated supply list, no chasing perfection. Just a simple little spark to get your hands moving and your soul sighing ahhh… yes… I needed this.

🎨 One Simple Art Idea: Create a Background of Layers

You can grab this FREE set of Instant Download Craft Papers here:

If you’re frozen on a blank page, don’t overthink it. Just layer.

Tear bits of old book pages, sheet music, scrapbook paper, receipts, envelopes… whatever’s around you. Glue them down messy (messy is good). Add a soft wash of watercolor or acrylic paint over the top. Smudge with your finger. Scribble a little with a pencil or pen.

Your goal isn’t “pretty.” Your goal is play. Who doesn't want to play with glue, paper and scissors. Just don't run!

Pro tip: The moment you stop trying to make it perfect, the magic sneaks in.

I want to leave you with this: Your art doesn’t care if you mess up. Your paints don’t judge. Your glue stick is cheering you on from the sidelines.

The hardest part is cracking open the cover and making the first mark. Once you do that? The rest flows. I pinky promise.

There is no wrong answer. There is no grade. There’s only you, showing up for you.

So consider this your official nudge from me: go grab your journal. Light a candle, put on some music, and just begin. The pages are waiting. 💛

Until next time,
-Teresa xo
